George R.R. Martin wrote the great fantasy epic A Song of Ice and Fire

A Storm of Swords The first books of the fantasy epic A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin belong to the most successful novels of these days. He tells a fascinating story about royal dynasties, intrigues, murder, betrayal and vengeance so realistical - it is almost painful. The plot is shaped by his complex characters and subtle use of magic.

There were six volumes planned for this series. Martin originally planned that the fourth book takes place several years after A Storm of Swords. Instead George R.R. Martin is writing "A Feast for Crows" as the fourth book of the series to fill the gap. Its release is now expected for March 2003. The titles of the other still unwritten books are "The Winds of Winter" and "A Time for Wolves".

This is George R.R. Martin's long awaited third volume of his large-scale fantasy epic A Song of Ice and Fire, one of the most successful fantasy series ever written. Martin stated in an interview that he has ".. at least reached the end of my opening, even if it is not yet the start of the end game." It is the dilemma of these great series that our great anticipation is matched by equal high frustration because we are kept in suspense so long until the next book. (book excerpt)
